Summary
QA Engineer with 5+ years owning quality end to end for web, mobile (iOS and Android) and microservice backends at a US broker-dealer — manual and automation, from test strategy, test plans and risk-based test design through end-to-end suites running in CI/CD. Joined as the first QA engineer on the team and built the function from zero: QA process, defect workflow, test documentation, and 1,450+ automated UI, API and E2E tests across Python and TypeScript, starting with Selenium and Pytest and later migrating the suite to Playwright. Equally comfortable defining a QA process from scratch and operating inside an established one. A deliberate, heavy user of AI-assisted testing (Claude Code, MCP, Cursor, AI agents) for test generation, log analysis and defect triage.
Experience
QA Engineer
March 2021 – July 2026Lime Trading · an award-winning broker-dealer operating in the USA
- Built the QA function from scratch as the first and only QA engineer on the team — defined the test strategy, test plan and entry and exit criteria, set up the defect workflow and test documentation in Jira, TestRail, Qase and Confluence, and stood up the full automation infrastructure for web, iOS, Android and backend microservices.
- Designed and maintained the manual regression suite and release checklists using formal test-design techniques — equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis, decision tables, state transition and pairwise testing — prioritised by risk, and complemented them with session-based exploratory testing to find what scripted cases miss.
- Reviewed requirements and acceptance criteria before development started, maintained a traceability matrix from requirement to test case to defect, and resolved specification ambiguity at the design stage rather than in QA.
- Owned release quality across 48+ releases — ran release regression and smoke testing, coordinated UAT, prioritised defects by severity and impact, and documented 600+ defects in Jira with a reopen rate below 5%.
- Built the first automated UI and E2E suites with Selenium and Python, then led the migration to Playwright and TypeScript as the front end matured — re-architecting around the Page Object Model, API-driven test data setup and teardown, role-based session fixtures and parallel execution, and replacing sleeps with explicit state polling so the suite was reliable enough to gate releases on. Playwright traces, video and screenshots cut failure triage time sharply.
- Established mobile testing and automation for iOS and Android with Appium (XCUITest driver), real devices and BrowserStack, covering critical user flows across a device and OS version matrix and catching platform-specific defects before release; handled WebDriverAgent signing, provisioning profiles and native selector stability.
- Built the API automation layer with Pytest and Requests against REST and gRPC services documented in Swagger/OpenAPI, and validated backend correctness end to end — advanced SQL against PostgreSQL and MySQL plus Kafka and RabbitMQ message flows between microservices.
- Integrated every suite into CI/CD (TeamCity, Jenkins, GitHub Actions) as a tiered pipeline — smoke on every pull request as a merge gate, full regression nightly and pre-release, per-service suites on deploy to staging — running in Docker against Kubernetes-deployed test environments, with Allure reporting and failure artifacts for flake-history analysis.
- Reduced production defects by 60% by designing and maintaining 1,450+ automated UI, E2E and API tests, and cut the full regression cycle from two days to one.
- Monitored production quality with Kibana, Grafana, Sentry and Chrome DevTools — triaging incoming errors and crash reports, reproducing customer-reported issues and tracing defects to the responsible service rather than the symptom.
- Ran load and stress testing with JMeter against critical trading and reporting endpoints, and covered the security basics — OWASP ZAP scans plus manual authentication and authorisation checks — before major releases.
- Pioneered AI-assisted QA on the team — integrated Claude Code, MCP, Cursor and AI agents into daily workflows for test case generation, log analysis and defect triage, cutting test authoring and failure triage per regression cycle from about 4 hours to 1.5.
- Mentored and onboarded junior QA engineers, cutting ramp-up from 5 weeks to 2 by writing the process documentation, framework guides and playbooks the team still runs on.
Public projects
- Agentic Playwright Suite — end-to-end, visual regression and REST API tests in Playwright and TypeScript, authored and repaired by Claude Code agents over Playwright MCP, run in a containerised GitHub Actions pipeline that publishes Allure reports, a suite health page and a replayable run feed.
- Quality Lab — a controlled store with Playwright UI and API tests, accessibility checks, evidence-based failure triage, reviewed repair proposals and a documented bug investigation.
